Barbara Strong
In a chaotic & noisy world, I aim to bring peace and tranquility through my art, encouraging a quiet appreciation for simple things and fostering mindfulness, stillness and relaxation.
As a working-class single mum with no formal art training, art has always been a source of safety for me during challenging times, and through a lifelong journey of personal development, now in my 60s, I am finally creating my life as an Artist.
My art is diverse, exploring various mediums as I develop my style. I particularly enjoy collage, recycling discarded magazines, acrylics, soft pastels, and pencil. Doodling and pattern making are my favorites, with colour playing a crucial role in all my creations and my raised ink doodles are not only for my own enjoyment but are also available in packs for others to colour their own art, while promoting mindfulness and creative expression.
Travel has deeply influenced my work. In Thailand, Buddhism was a major theme; in Nepal, I painted portraits of the people living in the rugged weathered mountains; in India, I captured the beauty of Goa's beaches. Now in Herefordshire and Worcestershire, I create collages inspired by the rolling landscapes and skies of the English countryside.
While my work is eclectic, it consistently revolves around themes of peace, stillness, and simple pleasures. From single white flowers to serene countryside scenes to simple doodling & colouring in, my art aims to bring tranquility and creativity into your life.
