Alfred Mann
artist & teacher

Alfred Bryant Mann D.A.(Edin)

Artist and Director of Bromyard Art Studios C.I.C.
Born in Scotland in 1952.

After a varied career in the arts and education, I headed off with my family in our camper van and travelled through Europe, finally landing on the Greek islands of Aegina and Agistri. Painted and exhibited widely whilst there in addition to helping run our gallery, bars and restaurants. My family ,however, might find the idea of me being a ‘help’ somewhat debatable.

Returned to the UK in 2005 and after a further spell in education, opened the Bromyard Arts Studios Community Interest Company at the Heritage Centre. My new centre incorporating a personal painting studio, teaching spaces and our gallery and gift shop. Fourteen years later we continue providing Bromyard with a place of creativity and learning.

As for my own work, trying to define in words what you might find when viewing my art is difficult. It can have a dark or a light touch - pretty much reflecting the human condition as I experience it.
Influences are many and if originality is still possible in a time of AI, lets hope there may be a sprinkling of that too.

In my teaching studios , I am joined by my artist friends and colleagues who are all on their own individual journeys. I am proud to be their
mentor helping them through the inevitable difficulties encountered along the way. You can find a cross section of their work exhibited in the Public Hall (Venue 2 on the Artwalk trail). We are inclusive of abilities, giving some their first opportunity to exhibit, sharing the walls with artists who are quite
accomplished in their own right. Such is the ethos of the Art Studios. Enjoy your visit.
