The Lantern Procession 2019

Bromyard Community Arts planned, prepared and delivered a series of lantern making and drumming workshops with children and families for the Lantern Procession on 23rd November as part of the Bromyard Christmas Light -Up.

This was the first Lantern Procession as part of the Bromyard Christmas Light-Up. It was wonderful that the procession was so well supported. The Light -Up has a long and unique history to Bromyard and it was rewarding to put on something that added to the event and that was so well received by the local community.

“That's my grandson Riley’s arm he said he really enjoyed making the lanterns”

“The children from St Peter’s had such a fabulous time Vicki - thank you so much for including us in your festive build up celebrations. Miss Wis”

“Well done to the organisers and a big cheer for all the children who took part.”

“A brilliant addition to an already great day.”

The drumming gave an energy to the whole procession. There were 6 participants, all were new to the whole experience.  BCA are grateful to the skill of Ted Sherman to teach, rehearse and lead the drummers in what turned out to be a key element in the event.

“The kids absolutely loved it! The drummers where amazing! Lovely start to Christmas!”

“Loved the drums too”

One of the aims was to put on workshops that were accessible to local families and that enable more people to take part in the making of the event. This involved a lot of prep work. The 9 volunteers who worked on prep night made the workshops possible. They went on to participate right up to the end of the procession.

“Enjoyed every minute of it, fab” CC- volunteer
